Privacy Policy

Ball Busters is a game made by NoodleJam ("we" in this policy). This policy explains what the game collects, why, and the choices you have.
- There are no accounts. We never ask for your name, email address or phone number.
- Your game progress stays on your device.
- The global leaderboard uses a random player ID and a made-up two-word name, not anything that identifies you.
- The game shows ads from Google AdMob. Google collects some data to serve and measure them, and where the law requires it, you choose whether ads can be personalised.
On your device
Your progress, coins, shop items, missions, settings, player ID, leaderboard name and leaderboard key are saved on your device so the game can pick up where you left off. None of this is sent anywhere except as described under "Leaderboard" below. Deleting the game deletes it.
Leaderboard
The game has global leaderboards: an all-time board and a board for each day's challenge. When you first open the game it creates a random player ID and a random two-word name (for example "Nova Quill") from a fixed list of words. You can swap the name for another random one with Change Name on the leaderboard. You can't type your own name, so nothing personal ends up on the board.
When a game ends, the game sends our leaderboard server:
- your random player ID and two-word name,
- the level you reached, and which board it is for (all-time, or the date of the daily challenge),
- a random key the server gave your device, so nobody else can post scores under your name.
The player ID is not your advertising ID or any other device identifier, and we can't link it to you. Your name, best level and rank, and the player ID, are shown publicly on the leaderboard to everyone who plays.
Like any website, our server sees the IP address your device connects from. We use it only to limit how many requests one connection can make, which stops people flooding the leaderboard. It is held in short-lived counters and is not stored with your scores.
We use this data to run the leaderboard and to keep it fair, which is in our legitimate interests and yours as a player. We keep leaderboard entries for as long as the leaderboard runs. The server is in the UK (Amazon Web Services, London), managed with Laravel Forge.
Advertising
Ball Busters is free and shows ads through Google AdMob (the Google Mobile Ads SDK). Google decides what it collects through AdMob and is responsible for it. Google says it uses this data to show ads, measure them, understand how the app is used and prevent fraud:
| Data | Used for |
|---|---|
| Your device's advertising ID (on iPhone and iPad, only if you allow tracking) | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
| Approximate location, from your IP address | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
| How you interact with ads and the app | Advertising, analytics, fraud prevention |
| Crash logs and diagnostics | Analytics, fraud prevention |
Read more in Google's How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and the Google Privacy Policy.
Your choices
- UK, EEA and Switzerland: the first time you open the game, Google's consent form asks whether ads can be personalised. Ads are only personalised if you agree. To change your answer, open Settings in the game and tap Privacy choices.
- iPhone and iPad: the game asks permission before your advertising ID can be used to track you. You can change this at any time in Settings, Privacy & Security, Tracking.
- Android: you can reset or delete your advertising ID in your phone's settings, usually under Google or Privacy, then Ads.
If you don't allow personalised ads, you still see ads, but they aren't based on your activity.
Children
Ball Busters is meant for players aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask for a copy of data we hold about you, or ask us to correct or delete it. Because the leaderboard is anonymous, tell us your leaderboard name and roughly what you scored and when, and we will find and delete your entry. For data Google collects through ads, use the choices above or contact Google.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change what the game collects, we will update this page and the date at the top.
